Napa Valley, California is but one of the major Wine Growing Regions in the state and is the best known.  The main route through the valley, Route # 29, travels northwest from Napa to Calistoga and the foothills of Mount St. Helena and the Robert Louis Stevenson State Park.  If you follow Route # 29 north over the mountain to Middletown, Cal., you will visit The Geysers volcanic steam generation power (electric) plant, and stay and gamble in the local Native American Casino.  Further up you will come to Clearlake, California, a major summer recreational area for fishing, swimming, boating, and exploring.

 

In Calistoga you can see a the Old Faithful Geyser (not the one in Yellowstone NP), mud baths, and a petrified forest (not The Petrified Forest of Arizona). Along Route # 29 through the Napa valley you can take a train ride, visit world-renowned wineries, and visit an olive oil tasting room.  Take the Silverado Trail out of Calistoga back to Napa, it provides an elevated view of the valley.
