Bluff Fort, Bluff, Utah, USA

Located on Highways # 191/163 along the San Juan River valley in Utah. just south of Blanding, Utah is the Bluff Fort Historic Site - Upon their arrival in the Bluff valley in the 1880's, irrigation, planting crops and shelter became the paramount concerns of the Hole-in-the-Rock pioneers, Mormons. If you want a little history of these people, do a search on Hole-in-the-Rock Utah, it will give you some Utah government sites that have detailed history of the trek. Try http://www.historytogo.utah.gov/ for a starter.

Note: This is not the same as Hole-in-the-Rock home at Moab, Utah.

At the junction of highway #191 north and # 163 east, there are a gift shop, restaurant, and some services available. Many people travel this route on the way to Cortez, Colorado, the home of Mesa Verde N.P., to Monticello, Utah home of the Canyonlands N.P., or to Moab, Utah and Arches N.P.
