Demographics of SeniorCitizenLocalWeb
Web-using Seniors & Boomers & Families
These are people 5 and older who are purchasing online. A recent survey by Greenfield Online found that 80% of net savvy seniors are between the ages of 55 and 64 and that 40% had household incomes of $50,000 or more.
Q). Why should I advertise on SeniorCitizenLocalWeb.com?
A). Why not? Why not present your services and products directly to the people that you target at a price that you can afford? You can promote your products and services by shouting from the rooftops or making it known via public broadcast radio, television announcements, or newspaper advertising. Eventually, you will either go broke or proclaim success in your attempts to publicize and spread the word of your being.
To market is to make public ‘you’ via shouting it out, huffing and puffing, or pushing it upon others that you do exist and that you have presented and declared yourself as the ‘Best’ person to see in the event of a problem. Not often realized or revealed is that all purchases of products and services are the result of someone having a problem that perceivably has to be solved. If a person needs it, wants it, or seeks it out, then you have to be there to supply it, or the person will go elsewhere.
Senior Citizen Local Web can help keep ‘you’ in front of and within reach of your customers 24/7 for a cost lower than that of one or two classifieds.
Q). I can advertise on radio, television, and in the newspapers, why should I use you?
A). The per-person cost is what counts. To advertise to 100,000 people at a cost of $500.00 per ad is very expensive if only 1% or 1,000 people are Baby Boomers or Senior Citizens that can use your product. From these 1,000 you may only get 1%, or 10 sales; thus it will cost you $50.00 to make each sale.
If we get your message in front of the 1,000 senior citizens and the sales are 1% or 10 sales at our introductory first year basic textural ad cost of $60.00, then the cost of each sale is $6.00, which translates to a 8.33 times deduction in cost, and that translates to a huge profit increase to you.
Q). I like radio and television, it makes my company look big, so why use an Internet ad?
A). The ads placed on disposable media are just that, disposable. If your potential customer is not looking, or listening when your ad is broadcast, then it is missed and you have just thrown money into the airways. Conversely, having your ad on a targeted demographic Internet website for months or years assures that when your customer is ready to purchase, he or she can find you, and thus order from you.
Q). What is the number of seniors on the Internet?
A). Unknown for sure as it changes daily, but here are general comments from Greg Bloom, senior Internet analyst of Nielsen//NetRatings. November 2003.
"The overall increase of Web consumption by senior citizens is a great indicator of the growing online market potential with seniors,"
"More than 25 million adults over the age of 55 were online last month. That is clear evidence for advertisers and marketers looking to reach those older adults that the Internet should be part of the marketing mix."
A January 2005 report claims that 41% of all seniors age 55 and up are now Internet savvy.
Q). Any more comments about seniors on the Internet by the Nielsen//NetRatings?
A). NEW YORK, Nov. 20, 2003 -- Nielsen//NetRatings, the global standard for Internet audience measurement and analysis, reports that senior citizens age 65 and older were the fastest growing age group online, surging 25 percent year over year to 9.6 million Web surfers from home and work in October 2003. Additionally, within the senior citizen age group, Nielsen//NetRatings found that the number of female seniors online jumped 30 percent, while male seniors jumped 20 percent.
Since October 2002, senior citizens online grew from 7.6 million or 5.9 percent of the active Internet universe to 9.6 million surfers aged 65 plus, making up seven percent of the active Internet universe in October 2003.

The study was conducted among 1,265 Web users aged 55 - 64 and above, and found this group to be well-equipped computer owners who are savvy about high-tech add-ons such as scanners and digital cameras.
Nearly 80 percent of 1,265 respondents to Greenfield Online's study conducted over the Internet were age 55 and up and 21 percent were 65 or over. More than 40 percent had household incomes of $50,000 or above. The study found that 95 percent are computer owners and most have had their computer for three years or longer.
Q). Do seniors purchase trips?
A). You bet your bonnet they do. The average senior citizen that is a club member takes one to twenty trips per year. These are to casinos, shows, events, tourist attractions, other nations, and shopping tours. The average day trip costs $50 - $60, but week long trips in-country regularly run $400 - $500, and international trips can run $1,500 and up. Most trips are booked 3 to 12 months in advance.

Q). Do you subscribe to CJs, LinkShare or other click-through affiliate banner plans?
A). Absolutely NOT! Our experience over four years is that these click on the banner and earn money services are great for the advertising companies, but poor for the website doing the advertising. (200+ ads for nearly 4 years generated 300+ labor hours of placements and updates, and a sum total of $10.00 in click through revenue.) We only use known and reliable single company controlled advertising, such as Amazon.com and Art.com, etc.
Q). Do you trade banners with other companies?
A). Absolutely NOT! Our experience over four years is that we have no control over the placement or use of our banners traded to others. Many times we traded banners only to find that we placed their banner on page one while ours on their website was on the bottom of page 20,000. (Additionally, many times we did a trade only to find that the website with our banner eventually became a gambling or porno website, which is not what we intended.)
Q) What can you do for us?
A) SeniorCitizenLocalWeb.com can help bring a segment of your customer population to your door and at a 24/7 cost that is far below any other advertising media.
