Preface

This travel guide was designed out of the need to understand some of the ‘ins and outs’ of selecting a good value overnight resting place or a base-camp type accommodation for one to a group of persons.  Too often there is little to no planning on where to stay when taking a vacation to an unknown area, and this can easily lead to a poor trip or vacation that is overly costly and irritable. 

Thus, with this in mind the author, who has learned from experience over some 50 years of traveling is presenting his ideas and tips on how to choose a limited rental, motel or hotel, and how to maybe avoid being overcharged and disappointed.

Also be aware that the author is writing to both the travel or tour guide and the individual or family traveler, therefore there are information included that should be of value to both.  Also note that the information is for USA domestic accommodations, the author has foreign accommodation information in his Foreign Travel for Beginners guide.

 

About the Author

The author, Bill McElroy, is a professional writer with many publications in print and being read; this is though his first attempt at documenting the touring industry and its nuances; and hopefully the booklet will give you insights into travel and the potentials of fulfillment, happiness, adventure, and good times that you deserve. 

Bill has traveled to extensively within the United States of America, and to foreign lands such as Canada, Mexico, Japan, Wake, Guam, Panama, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, India, Ceylon (Sir Lanka), England, France, Germany, and Austria over the years as a tourist, guide, U.S. Military employee, U.S. scientist, and Geological explorer.  He has seen and met many interesting and very friendly people who reached out to help when he needed it, and he thanks each here.
