How to become a Professional Tour / Travel Guide /sample index

 

                     

You do NOT need to have a high school education, or a GED, nor a College Degree to become a professional tour / travel guide, but you do need the will to learn and give it your best.  There are over 77,000 known tour professionals in the USA, (2010) and this number will be increasing as more people age and retire, more seek fun and adventure, more foreigners financially advance and travel, and more locations to travel to are opened.

 

Additionally, the existing 77,000 will experience life's little problems that will force him or her to retire and thus create more openings.  Injuries, medical problems, aging, financial difficulties, and such all take a toll to existing guides, and thus you will have many opportunities for finding openings, starting your travel and touring company, or just running the tours for a single company or club.

 

Your age has little to do with your success as a travel professional, there are opportunities for those from 18 to 85.  Your background, education, race, religion, and other preferences are not deterrents and in many instances can become a benefit to you and your tours. 

Plus, this is one business where you can start with little to no money, start small and grow, and eventually become a major player in the world of providing for those who want adventure, fun, history, and a story to tell their grandchildren.
