Speak Out - Tourist Safety
In American English
Walking, climbing, crawling, slipping, ducking?
We have been to canyons, waterfalls, mountains, caves, forest, and other outdoor attractions in the USA and abroad, and find that most are fairly well organized and simplified for the average tourist.
We have also found that some attractions are dangerous to the visitors that frequent the attractions in that during dry weather everything may be fine, but when it rains, snow, or mist, or when leaves are falling, etc, the attraction's pathways become slippery and to a child that like to run, or a senior that can easily lose his or her balance, dangerous.
We have also seen those beautiful picture of a football field long cave that appears easy to navigate, only to find that one has to nearly crawl on one's belly to get to it. Waterfalls are usually fine in non-windy weather, but can almost drown a person when the wind blows the water onto the pathways.
Forest paths are usually built of wood planks or the newer composite plastics, each of which can become covered with fungi, mosses, slime, dead leaves, etc., that make walking hazardous.
Therefore, we are recommending that you, the owner or person responsible for the safety of your visitors walk the paths each day, before the tourist arrive, and do what is necessary to help make the walk safer. You should also post warning signs, and if necessary inform visitors on your brochures and Internet website that there may be hazards and to dress appropriately and wear footwear that are suitable for the attraction.

Caminando, ascendiendo, reptando, tropezando, esquivando?
