My Mom's Poems |
For your reading enjoyment |
Vacation Time BluesBy Hannah Rotated all the tires, Fixed the transmission. Relined the brakes, Tightened the ignition.
Waxed it 'til it glows, Why this dedication? It's the family car, And, we're going on vacation.
Took the kids a-shopping, Hitting all the sales, Shopping til we're dropping, Doggedness prevails.
Sneakers, shirts, and sweaters, Socks and undies too. Have to get the Name Brands, Nothing else will do.
The dog is in the kennel, The cat's with Cousin Fran, The house-plants have been dragged outside, To do the best they can.
I've scrubbed the house from stem to stern, You ought to see it shine, The car is packed, the kids await, And everything is fine.
So why this nagging feeling, Which seems to grow and grow? I DO NEED this vacation, But, I'm just too "pooped" to go.
