The Lotto Winner ©

As I looked at the last night's paper

Suddenly, to my surprise,

My numbers were staring up at me,

I couldn't believe my eyes.

My blood ran cold, my knees were weak,

And man, my fingers shook,

As I went to compare the numbers,

With the ones in my little black book.

I checked them out, I checked again,

And checked them three times more.

My head was up above Cloud Nine,

And my feet were off the floor.

Was no mistake, it all was true,

I soon was out the door.

I told my boss to keep his job,

I didn't waste a minute.

The life of luxury beckoned me,

I aimed to dive right in it.

I cleaned out all my bank accounts,

I figured "What the Heck",

There'd soon be plenty more' and so

I wrote each kid a check.

I bought a car, a boat and then,

I bought out half the store.

Whatever took my fancy,

I bought not one, but four.

I played the Lotto many years,

But always knew I'd 'lick it',

But, a horrible thought just crossed my mind,

I forgot to buy the TICKET.
