Commuter's Nightmare

7:30 A.M. minus 15 degrees,

And I’m driving to work In this sub—zero breeze.

The windshield is frosted,

I’m starting to shiver,

Seern~ that the heater

Don’t want to ‘deliver’.

I’m tucking each hand ‘Tween the warmth of my knee

‘Cause my fingers are numb

And I’m starting to freeze.

Five miles down the road,

Just two more and I’m there,

Then a geyser of Anti-Freeze

Peppers the air.

I’m blocking all traffic,

A driver’s worse dream.

They can’t pass, I can’t move

And we’re starting to ‘steam

But, my nightmare’s soon over

And now, I’m in luck.

Like an actor on cue

Comes a local tow-truck.

Trussed up on a winch

Like a helpless cadaver,

Undignified? Yes,

But, it don’t seem to matter.

‘Cause I’m back on the road.

You all know how that feels

Sure, it cost me a bundle

But, at least, I have “wheels”.
