I remember mama’s house
When Christmas day was here
And Santa came while children slept
To bring his bag of cheer.
Beyond the massive sliding doors
A tree that stood so tall
OR, was it really all that big
Or was I just that small?
Like magic over night it” bloomed”
A sight, grand to behold
Popcorn, tinsel, silver bells
And paper chains in gold.
We dared not open up those doors
Our Christmas gifts to seek.
‘Til birthday Child was first adored
Were we allowed to peek.
The “ wait” seemed awfully long back then
‘cause I was just a kid.
But, when I recall fond memories
I’m really glad we did.
