Dear God, I’m just a little Speck
My voice, my prayer so small,
But still in truth, I do expect,
You’ll hear me when I call.
I wonder just how long your love
Can temper the great ire
That must be raging in your breast
By deeds below most dire.
Through nature’s wrath, you’ve warned us
Tornadoes, quakes and floods
Diseases that are rampant
And ‘brothers’ spilling blood
I can almost hear you saying
“oh my children tell me why
you refuse to heed my warning”
I can almost hear you sigh.
Will the agony within you
That is tearing at your heart
Soon evoke from you the awesome words,
“Enough from me, depart”.
One more chance dear lord, I beg you
Help us turn around today
With your loving hand to guide us
We will surely find the way.
