Jimmy's Christmas

Santa came to Jimmy’s house

As he does all girls and boys,

And when he emptied out his sack,

He left ten little toys.

A soldier proud, a truck, a gun’.

A wagon painted red;

A Calico cat, a bat and ball,

A trike, a boat, a sled.

A happy boy was Jimmy

With his toys so new and bright,

He soon began to use those toys

With all his main and might.

But, if you turn those pages now,

You’ll see a sorry sight.

Of ten little toys, the soldier,

Proud, and dressed so very fine

Had one leg chewed by Jimmy’s dog

And now, there were just nine.

The little truck was sadly used

And left to meet it’s fate

Out in the rain by the old storm drain

Leaving only eight.

Eight little toys, but the gun Jimmy lent

To his little friend, named Kevin.

Kevin moved away the very next day

So now there was only seven.

The wagon lay with three wheels gone

And a dent that you couldn’t fix,

The handle broken, the paint all peeled,

The toys were down to six

Six little toys so badly abused;

I’m, sure you must now have derived

The trike left in the street,

It’s fate it soon did meet

And now there is only five.

One little ball

On the kitchen floor

Trips Jimmy’s daddy

Now there are four.

The little green sled and it’s rungs fell apart

When ‘attacked’ by a huge maple tree.

For small Jimmy’s steering does not me cheering,

And now there are only three.

The Calico cat with it’s one large eye,

And it’s stuffing all askew

Stares out at the clocks from the old

trash box

And now there are only two.

The yellow boat went sailing,

And it was so much fun,

‘Til the wind broke it’s string & carried it off,

And now, there is only one.

One scratched and battered baseball bat

Without it’s mate for fun

Left in a dark hall closet,

And now there is none.

Happy New Year
