Home Sweet Home

Our drinking water’s turning brown,

And it sounds like pipes exploding.

The front yard and the backyard steps,

Are swiftly all corroding.

The gutters are falling off a the roof,

In Winter time forgotten.

Now needs new base, as sorry case,

Cause all the board’s are rotten.

A kitchen door a windy night,

One more thing to repair.

Twisted steel and broken glass,

It has been quite a year.

Concrete walls once proud and stately,

Showing sign of much wear lately.

Cracks and mildew needing mending,

How much more will I be spending?

Peaks in train house peeling fast,

I scrapped for hours, (grueling task).

Hordes of ants now call it home,

Must buy spray and make them roam.

Hungry deer, veracious grubs,

Did a number on my shrubs.

Tulip buds ordered in September,

Finally arrived in late December.

Should have been planted in the fall,

Or maybe I shouldn’t have planted at all.

Planted the bulbs in April and then,

Those plants were never seen again.

I hired a Plumber, a Carpenter, and yet,

I still can’t lose this feeling.

It’s not over yet, cause I’m getting all wet,

‘cause’ there’s a leak in the ceiling.

Ah, yes, there’s no place like

Home Sweet Home

You gotta love it or leave it, I made my choice, stay in the country, for better or  worse.
