He’s Retired Now

He’s underfoot,

You’re overwrought,

The dishes are still in the sink.

To him, it don’t matter,

Your routine he will shatter

with “Hey babe, will you get me a drink?

Your expertise of many years

Is sorely put to test.

No matter what the chore, you’ll learn

That HIS way is the best.

But at night when he’s sleeping beside you

And you lay with your head on his chest,

And his warmth makes it known

That you’re never alone,

Then, thank God ‘cause you know you’ve been blest.
