The Golden Years

Can’t hear too good,

My eyes are ‘gone’,

My back ain’t what it was.

My hairline has receded so,

There’s nothing left but fuzz.

 

I’d like to say that I still weigh

The same as in my youth,

But, I’ve put on pounds and they’ve

shifted ‘round,

And my figure says, “That’s the truth”.

 

My doctor says my kidney’s gone

And this was his analysis,

He wants to see me once a week

And he put me on dialysis.

 

That diarrhea had me down,

Is vastly understated,

Still, not sure that I’m better off,

‘cause now I’m constipated.

 

My gall-bladder stones are in a jar.

My arthritis makes me ‘smart’,

And I’ve got a new pacemaker

Just to operate my heart.

 

Chopped meat has long replaced my steak,

on soft foods, I survive.

 

I’m only 84 you know

And it’s great to be ---- alive! ?????

Alive?????

I must be--everything hurts!
